An Ordinance to compel youths of a certain age who are British subjects to undergo Military training.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, a follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as "The Compulsory Short title. Military Training Ordinance, 1910".

From and after the coming into operation of this Compulsory Ordinance every male person in the Colony over the age Military of eighteen years and under the age of twenty years who training of is a British subject and whose parents are of European subjects extruction shall undergo Military training, in accordance between the with Regulations prescribed by the Governor-in-Conneil ages of 18 under the next succeeding section, for the period of three and 20. years from the date of his becoming liable to such training:

Provided that if any person who is undergoing such Military training leaves the Colony before the period of three years' service ins expired and does not return to the Colony within such period he shall not thereafter be re- quired to complete such perimi of service :

Provided also that if any person who is liable to under- go Military training under this Ordinance becomes a men- ber of the Hongkong Volunteer Corps he shall be exempt from the provisions of this Ordinance during every year in which he qualifies as efficient under the Regulations from time to time in force relating to efficiency in the Hongkong Volunteer Corps.

3. 4. Every person liable to Military training under the Penalty, provisions of this Ordinance who having arrived at the age of eighteen years and not having attained the age of twenty years shall fail to comply with the provisions of this Ordinance shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding $100 and to a farther penalty of $5 for every day that he fails to comply therewith, sneh penalties to be recovered summarily before a Magistrate.

5. No person shall be required to undergo Military Exemption training prescribed by this Ordinance who is certified by from the Principal Civil Medical Officer to be physically unfit physical for such training,
